Appeals Court denies request concerning Douglas County lawsuit

Douglas County News-Press: The three Douglas County residents suing the Douglas County commissioners over alleged violations of open meetings law have lost their third round in court, this time at the Colorado Court of Appeals.

In late April, Rep. Bob Marshall, D-Highlands Ranch, former Douglas County Commissioner Lora Thomas and Lone Tree resident Julie Gooden filed a lawsuit in Douglas County District Court, accusing the commissioners of violating open meetings law and requesting to have the home rule resolution passed on March 25 to be null and voided.

In May, the district court found there was no violation of open meetings law, and on June 8, it refused to issue an injunction against the county commissioners pending appeal.
