Amusement parks, challenge courses inspected yearly, but safety history not listed in reports

9NEWS: Colorado law requires yearly inspections of amusement parks and adventure attractions, but documentation of problems that are found may never become public, 9NEWS Investigates has learned.

That reality was underscored by a fatal fall earlier this month at a climbing course in Idaho Springs and the $205 million court judgment against the operators of a Glenwood Springs thrill ride where a 6-year-old lost her life in 2021.

In both cases, the most recent state inspection reports before the accidents deemed the attractions safe.
